Definition (English)
A verb is a word that expresses an action, a state, or possession. (Verb হলো এমন শব্দ যা কাজ, অবস্থা বা অধিকার প্রকাশ করে।)
A verb is the most important part of a sentence. (Verb একটি বাক্যের সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ।)
Examples:
She reads a book. (সে একটি বই পড়ে।)
He is happy. (সে সুখী।)
They have a car. (তাদের একটি গাড়ি আছে।)
Types of Verb (ক্রিয়ার প্রকারভেদ)
1. Main Verb (মূল ক্রিয়া)
A main verb expresses the main action of a sentence. (Main verb বাক্যের প্রধান কাজ প্রকাশ করে।)
Examples:
She writes a letter. (সে একটি চিঠি লেখে।)
They play football. (তারা ফুটবল খেলে।)
2. Auxiliary Verb (সহায়ক ক্রিয়া)
An auxiliary verb helps the main verb to form tense, voice, or mood. (Auxiliary verb মূল ক্রিয়াকে tense, voice বা mood গঠনে সাহায্য করে।)
Examples:
She is reading. (সে পড়ছে।)
They have finished the work. (তারা কাজ শেষ করেছে।)
Primary Auxiliaries (প্রধান সহায়ক ক্রিয়া)
Be, Have, Do (Be, Have, Do)
Examples:
He is playing. (সে খেলছে।)
She has done the work. (সে কাজটি করেছে।)
Modal Auxiliaries (মডাল সহায়ক ক্রিয়া)
Can, Could, May, Might, Shall, Should, Will, Would, Must, Ought to (Can, Could, May, Might, Shall, Should, Will, Would, Must, Ought to)
Examples:
She can swim. (সে সাঁতার কাটতে পারে।)
You should work hard. (তোমার কঠোর পরিশ্রম করা উচিত।)
3. Transitive Verb (সকর্মক ক্রিয়া)
A transitive verb takes an object. (Transitive verb একটি object গ্রহণ করে।)
Examples:
She reads a book. (সে একটি বই পড়ে।)
He bought a pen. (সে একটি কলম কিনেছে।)
4. Intransitive Verb (অকর্মক ক্রিয়া)
An intransitive verb does not take an object. (Intransitive verb কোনো object গ্রহণ করে না।)
Examples:
The baby cries. (শিশুটি কাঁদে।)
Birds fly. (পাখিরা উড়ে।)
5. Linking Verb (সংযোজক ক্রিয়া)
A linking verb connects the subject with a complement. (Linking verb subject-কে complement-এর সাথে যুক্ত করে।)
Examples:
She is happy. (সে সুখী।)
The soup tastes good. (সুপটি সুস্বাদু লাগে।)
Forms of Verb (Verb-এর রূপ)
There are five basic forms of a verb. (Verb-এর পাঁচটি মৌলিক রূপ আছে।)
Base form, Past form, Past participle, Present participle, Third person singular form (Base form, Past form, Past participle, Present participle, Third person singular form)
