Definition (English)
Case in grammar shows the relation of a noun or pronoun to other words in a sentence. (Grammar-এ Case বিশেষ্য বা সর্বনামের বাক্যের অন্য শব্দের সাথে সম্পর্ক প্রকাশ করে।)
In English, case is mainly shown in pronouns and by position or apostrophe. (ইংরেজিতে Case প্রধানত pronoun-এর রূপ ও apostrophe দ্বারা প্রকাশ পায়।)
Examples:
Rahim reads a book. (রহিম একটি বই পড়ে।)
The teacher praised him. (শিক্ষক তাকে প্রশংসা করলেন।)
This is Karim’s pen. (এটি করিমের কলম।)
Types of Case (কারকের প্রকারভেদ)
1. Nominative Case (কর্তৃকারক)
A noun or pronoun used as the subject of a verb is in the nominative case. (যে বিশেষ্য বা সর্বনাম ক্রিয়ার কর্তা হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে Nominative Case বলে।)
Examples:
Rahim plays football. (রহিম ফুটবল খেলে।)
She is happy. (সে সুখী।)
2. Objective Case (কর্মকারক)
A noun or pronoun used as the object of a verb or preposition is in the objective case. (যে বিশেষ্য বা সর্বনাম ক্রিয়া বা preposition-এর object হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে Objective Case বলে।)
Examples:
The teacher called him. (শিক্ষক তাকে ডাকলেন।)
She gave me a pen. (সে আমাকে একটি কলম দিয়েছে।)
The book is for them. (বইটি তাদের জন্য।)

3. Possessive Case (সম্পর্ককারক)
A noun or pronoun that shows possession is in the possessive case. (যে বিশেষ্য বা সর্বনাম মালিকানা বোঝায় তাকে Possessive Case বলে।)
Examples:
This is Rahim’s book. (এটি রহিমের বই।)
That is my pen. (ওটি আমার কলম।)
These are their bags. (এগুলো তাদের ব্যাগ।)

4. Vocative Case (সম্বোধন কারক)
A noun used to call or address someone is in the vocative case. (কাউকে সম্বোধন করতে ব্যবহৃত বিশেষ্য Vocative Case-এ থাকে।)
Examples:
Rahim, come here. (রহিম, এখানে আসো।)
Friends, listen to me. (বন্ধুরা, আমার কথা শোনো।)
